Postcards from the Muranów and Wilanów housing estates is a tale about areas of Warsaw that carry ambiguous meanings, told over more than 120 pages.
This publication is the first of its kind, comparing the districts in a surprising manner. It will be a treat not only for the residents of Warsaw – or Muranów and Wilanów specifically – but also an obligatory reading material for all the fans of cities, architecture and local stories.
Why Muranów and Wilanów?
⇨ These two housing estates share similar stories. They were founded as a realization of a dream of a perfect housing estate, as appropriate for their respective time periods.
The visual part of the publication is a result of the inquiry in multiple private and public archives. Moreover, the book Postcards from the Muranów and Wilanów housing estates contains original essays written specifically for this project by: Joanna Kordjak (Szklane Domy), Joanna Kusiak (Chaos Warszawa), Jan Mencwel (Betonoza) and Agata Twardoch (System do mieszkania).
The book is already available online. With
your support, it will now be printed as well!
Each of the 100 books published in the first edition will have a handwritten signature. Moreover, in the printed edition, you will find a unique, perforated book cover, allowing you to detach it as your own set of postcards. Send them out or hang on your wall!
Postcards from the Muranów and Wilanów housing estates is a book by Michalina Musielak. It was developed as a part of Exercising Modernity and ZAIKS scholarships. The project is a result of more than a year of research in the fields of anthropology and art. In August this year, we organized the exhibition Greetings from the Muranów and Wilanów housing estates. Activism of a new estate. Now it is time to print the book!
Michalina
Musielak is
a culture researcher, known to the
general public as the director of Miss
Holocaust, a documentary
presented, among others, in the short film competition during Berlinale
2017.
Crowdfunding on the odpalprojekt.pl website means a chance for the project to get direct distribution. Thank you for all the support!
⇨ Attention! Given the potential support in the area of formally publishing the book (ISBN number, among others), the books are planned to be delivered in the second quarter of 2022. Hopefully it will be possible earlier :)
